This area gives children an opportunity to experience a rich language environment, and to develop confidence through expressing themselves and listening to others.
To develop a positive sense of themselves and others. Instilling values like respect, relationships, learning to manage feelings, manners and good behaviour.

Learning to recognize sounds, and skills needed to link sounds and letters. Blending of sounds to make words, and proper formation of letters are introduced. Learning to read with expression and understanding, and exposure to a variety of literacy activities, stories and poetry.
Providing children with opportunities to learn and understand numbers. Counting skills, using number language appropriately, jingles, number rhymes, and practical activities are explored to make mathematics fun and lively.
Exploration of the world, their community, culture, people, and the environment
enables the child learn about what happens around them. Topics like how things are made, Pushes and pulls and senses all bring in a wealth of knowledge.
This area facilitates children as they learn to explore and play with a variety of media and materials. Activities such as Art work, music, movement and dance, roleplay and ICT gives the child valuable opportunities of expression of thoughts, feelings and ideas.
This is a phase of education for 5 – 7 year old children. Year 1 and 2 make up KS1. It marks a shift from EYFS to more specific learning.
Subject covered in KS1 are English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, ICT, P.E, Art and Design, Music and PSHE.
